The top 6 best bushcraft and survival channels on Youtube

Here are six youtube channels which stand out above the rest, through rich content and an original view on bushcraft. These are the channels which teach beyond just the basic skills.

Survival Lilly

Lilly is an Austrian bushcrafter survivalist with lots of knowledge on both primitive and modern bushcraft and survival.  Her channel covers everything from urban survival to advanced techniques on making hand drill fire. Unlike many other bushcraft channels she's actually in the forest making her videos under real circumstances. You can see her jumping in ice cold water with her only set of clothes and then making a fire to dry them. Shes building advanced primitive shelters and she shows more than 10 ways of making fire. Everything is shown with very simple and easy-to-follow instructions.
Shes very inspiring and I hope that she can inspire more people out there, and especially other girls to take up the bushcrafters path of life.

Primitive Skills

This is one of the most informative and inspirational channels I've seen on Youtube. It is the Youtube channel of Maine Primitive Skills School. A school which preserves ancient skills and crafts with emphasis on individuals, community interactions and the environment in relation to today's world.
They are not just a practical bushcraft channel. Sure they have a lot of practical skills and craft videos like basket making, tracking, camouflage, poling a canoe and so on. But they also cover the more philosophical point of bushcraft. Why are we going out there and what does it mean for us? Why do we need these almost forgotten skills? And moreover I think they are the only channel which covers such diffuse but very interesting topics as "Learning to see" in nature. This channel actually brings out a whole new way of looking at nature, bushcraft and our history. This really sets it apart from other channels.
Do they sound too hazy for you? They really are not, check it out and you will be positively surprised.

Survival Sherpa

A channel you might not have heard about. His newer videos are almost all about axes, if you take a look back on his older videos you will find a real treasure trove of inspirational videos of less-known bushcraft tips and tricks. Like making a vinch in the woods. Great for rescuing a car in the ditch or a canoe stuck in the rapids. Or building a sawbuck in the woods. I will definitely try out this one on my next trip!

Scrambled O

This is the bushcraft wilderness cooking channel of your dreams. Using his own words it's about the basics of wilderness self-reliance. It's not just about cooking food outdoors. He even shows how to preserve food through smoking, dehydrating food and some advanced fire setups I bet most of you have never seen before.

Karamat Wildernes Ways

Another course channel. And a really great one at that. Unfortunately I don't know him personally but Mors Kochanski is like a living book of outdoor knowledge. There are a lot of useful bushcraft tips and tricks. The Butterfly Hank he teaches was completely new to me, but is extremely useful. They have videos on how to use your hands as tools, carving feathersticks and using knowledge to carry less and much more.

Zold outdoors

Channel by the nature traveler Clint Zold. His channel is the real deal, he does trips by foot and canoe, films them and share them with us. There is a lot to learn from his videos, but they are not pure instructional clips. They are clips from actual outdoor life, in contrast to most other bushcraft channels. At the end of many of his videos he reflects on the trip, thoughts that came up and the effect it has on him.
Take a look at his 7 days canoe trip video.
